High strength OSB/4 panel

SMARTPLY ULTIMA is an OSB/4 heavy-duty, load-bearing panel designed for demanding structural applications, particularly in offsite manufacturing and construction.

As an EN 300 OSB/4 panel, it’s intended for use in humid conditions and suited to structural use in service class 1 or 2 (as defined in Eurocode 5).

Stronger and more moisture resistant than OSB/3

ULTIMA provides a clear uplift in structural performance versus OSB/3, with around 30–35% higher strength/mechanical resistance (depending on the property).

This makes it well suited to high-load floors, roofs and engineered components, where strength and rigidity are critical.

High load bearing capacity

Designed for heavy-duty structural use, ULTIMA offers high load capacity, including an approximate 35% increase in characteristic bending strength versus OSB/3 (datasheet comparison).

That extra bending performance helps when you need a panel that holds its shape and strength under demanding spans and loads.

Consistent surface

ULTIMA is engineered to be more moisture resistant than OSB/3, including an approximate 20% reduction in thickness swelling (datasheet comparison).

Moisture resistant doesn’t mean waterproof—good detailing and avoiding prolonged wetting or standing water is still essential.

No added formaldehyde

ULTIMA is manufactured with formaldehyde-free bonding and no added formaldehyde resin technology, supporting better indoor air considerations and modern spec expectations.

The advanced resin bonding approach is also linked to improved resistance to thickness swelling.

UKCA and CE marked

ULTIMA is UKCA and CE marked and manufactured to recognised product standards for construction use.

Panels are clearly marked for traceability (including standard/grade and thickness), helping specifiers confirm the correct product is being used.

FSC® certified

SMARTPLY products are manufactured from FSC® certified timber, supporting responsible forest management.

The datasheet also references environmental assessment frameworks that may support project sustainability goals, depending on specification.
